The AEG Olympia–liveried Sauber C9 represents one of the most iconic eras of Group C endurance racing. Developed by Sauber Motorsport in partnership with Mercedes-Benz, the C9 debuted in 1987 and evolved into a dominant force by 1988, when AEG Olympia became the team's primary sponsor and introduced the distinctive black “circuit board” livery seen on car #62. Powered by a twin-turbo Mercedes-Benz V8, the C9 combined exceptional speed with improving reliability, earning five victories in the 1988 World Sportscar Championship and finishing runner-up to Jaguar. The program reached its peak in 1989 when the C9 won the 24 Hours of Le Mans and secured both the World Sportscar Championship and Drivers' Championship, cementing its place as one of the greatest endurance racing cars of the era.
